NMSU plans to build new three-story student dormitory
New Mexico State University is set to begin construction on a new $21.5 million dormitory next year.
The new dorms for both men and woman will be located north of the Corbett Student Union.
The 78-thousand square foot facility is expected to be completed mid 2019.
Glen Haubold, the director of Facilities and Services at NMSU, told ABC-7’s New Mexico Mobile Newsroom the new three-story dormitory will include 300 beds and classroom space.
The housing project is part of the university’s plan to increase the number of students it retains.
Officials have said an extra 400 students are living on NMSU’s main campus this year because of a new housing requirement mandating all freshmen must live on campus.
