Sheriff’s deputies arrest man wanted in connection to deadly hit-and-run
El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man wanted in connection to a deadly 2015 hit-and-run collision.
Deputies arrested Alex Ceniceros, 40, on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. Ceniceros was taken into custody at a residence located on the 13200 block of Soleen in El Paso County.
Ceniceros was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on charges of manslaughter, accident involving death, and tampering with physical evidence.
The crash happened shortly after 1 am November 22, 2015 on the 7800 block of Gateway East and Corral.
At the time, El Paso Police told ABC-7 Albert Guzman, 53, was stopped at a traffic light when the driver of a dark color Dodge Ram pickup, allegedly speeding, struck Guzman’s vehicle.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, identified as Ceniceros in a complaint affidavit obtained by ABC-7, fled the scene without stopping to render aid, police said.
Paramedics rushed Guzman to a hospital, where he later died.
The complaint affidavit states Ceniceros was driving a motor vehicle while allegedly “failing to maintain control of motor vehicle, failing to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, and operating a motor vehicle while consuming alcohol.”
The document further states “the defendant did use a deadly weapon, to-wit: a motor vehicle that in the manner of its use, or intended use, was capable of causing death of serious injury.”
Ceniceros’ bond was set at $100,000.
