Brent Pease fired as UTEP’s offensive coordinator

After an 0-3 start to the football season, the UTEP Miners are making some changes to their coaching staff.

UTEP confirmed to ABC-7 on Sunday it has fired offensive coordinator & quarterbacks coach Brent Pease.

The statement went on to say that UTEP head coach Sean Kugler will address other staff changes at Monday’s news conference at 12 p.m.

The firing of Brent Pease comes after a 63-16 blowout loss to Arizona Friday night at the Sun Bowl.

The offense has struggled the first 3 weeks of the season.

UTEP is ranked 128th out of 129 teams in the FBS in total offense.

The Miners are also ranked 129th in first downs per game.

The UTEP offense is also struggling at the quarterback position.

Starting quarterback Ryan Metz went down with a shoulder injury following the game against Rice and during the Arizona game, backup QB Zach Greenlee was benched midway in the game for Mark Torrez.

Pease was in the middle of his second season as UTEP’s offensive coordinator.

Prior to joining the Miners, Pease was the receivers coach at Washington and an offensive coordinator at Florida.
