El Paso police are investigating a shooting at a bar in Northeast El Paso early Sunday morning.

The victim, with a gunshot wound, was reportedly dropped off by unknown persons at William Beaumont Army Medical Center.

Police say the victim suffered life threatening injuries.

An ABC-7 photographer saw more than a dozen eyewitnesses outside waiting to be interviewed.

Police have not said if anyone has been arrested. They also haven’t confirmed the name of the business. But witnesses told ABC-7 it happened inside Nu Beginnings bar. ABC-7 spoke with people Sunday afternoon who were there around the same time of the shooting. Their cars were blocked behind caution tape as police investigated and they were told it could be up to ten hours until they could retrieve them.

One woman ABC-7 spoke with said shots were fired inside and they continued outside. She also defended the bar and its owner, saying she feels bad about the possible negative attention this incident will bring.

“It really saddens me because I know the owner of the bar and you see this intellectual man trying to make something of the community,” she said. “Unfortunately it brings bad attention to the business. But it’s not the business’s fault. They’re trying to bring people together.”

ABC-7 was unable to reach the bar owner. We will update this story once we get more information.
