NMSU rolls past UTEP 41-14

This year’s Battle of I-10 was a tale of two teams headed in different directions.

An 0-3 UTEP team in search of their first win and an NMSU team that was out to prove their 1-2 record really should be 3-0.

The Aggies took care of business Saturday night against their I-10 rival beating the Miners by a final of 41-14.

NMSU’s win ended an 8 game losing streak to the Miners

Aggies improved their record to 2-2, while the Miners will have to wait a little longer for that first win as they fall to 0-4 on the season.

The Miners just had no answer for the Aggies on both sides of the ball.

NMSU running back Larry Rose III ran for 144 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Quarterback Tyler Rogers also had his way with the Miners defense throwing for 283 yards, 2 touchdowns and just one interception.

In the first half of the game, UTEP quarterback Ryan Metz threw for just 54 yards and 3 interceptions.

Metz was benched in the second half for Mark Torrez, but Torrez didn’t fare any better.

He threw for 38 yards and was intercepted twice.

The Aggies now have a tough test in front of them.

They’re headed to Fayetteville, Arkansas next Saturday to take on the 1-2 Arkansas Razorbacks.

Meantime, the Miners will prepare for a road trip to West Point, NY for a date against Army.
