EPPD: Driver in deadly motorcycle collision arrested, car found abandoned in desert
Police arrested the alleged hit-and-run driver accused in the death of a motorcyclist in Central El Paso.
Andreas Nathaniel Misher, 20, was arrested October 20, 2017 and charged with Accident Involving Death and Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence.
Police said Misher was the driver of a 1999 Toyota Avalon that struck Raymond Calhoun, 29, the rider of a 1999 Kawasaki 900.
The wreck happened October 4, 2017 at about 4:30pm on the 2800 block of Savannah.
Police said Calhoun was riding the motorcycle north on the 2400 block of Elm as Misher was heading west on the Savannah.
Misher allegedly ran the stop sign and “pulled in front of the Kawasaki, causing the Kawasaki to collide with the vehicle,” police initially said.
As a result of the impact, Calhoun was ejected from the motorcycle. Calhoun, who sustained serious life-threatening injuries, was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
At the time of the collision, police said Calhoun was not wearing a helmet. Misher allegedly drove away without stopping to render aid, police said.
The Toyota Avalon Misher was allegedly driving was found abandoned in the desert area off Angora Loop and Dyer on October 5, 2017, police said.
Misher was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under bonds totaling $550,000.
