Animal Services waives fee to reclaim lost pets
See it as an act of goodwill during the holidays.
El Paso Animal Services announced that it is waiving reclaim fees for lost pets through the end of the year.
The Home for the Holidays Pet Reclaim Initiative will waive reclaim fees from Dec. 1, 2017 to Jan. 6, 2018. Officials said in a news release that it will make it easier to reunite families and lost pets during the holiday season.
There is a catch, though — the pets must have registration papers.
Owners who have not registered their pets must pay a $12.50 reclaim fee.
Other fees associated with adoption, owner surrender and requested euthanasia will also not be waived, nor will those pertaining to animal disposal, quarantine or repeat offenders.
Animal Service officials encourage families to have the animal’s veterinarian records on hand when visiting the shelter at 5001 Fred Wilson Ave.
The Animal Services website (www.EPAnimalServices.com) posts pictures of lost pets and is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
