Horizon High School student found unresponsive in desert area pronounced dead at hospital

The unresponsive person found by El Paso County sheriff’s deputies, a student enrolled in the Clint Independent School District, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Officials with the sheriff’s office said the student was found at 9:00 am in the desert area near the 14000 block of Horizon Blvd.

A Clint ISD spokeswoman confirmed the student was enrolled at Horizon High School. “We are saddened to hear of the passing of one our students. We offer our sincerest condolences to his family and loved ones. To help our students deal with the loss, we have made counselors available at the schools in the Horizon Area,” the district said in a news release.

Emergency responders called to the scene administered CPR and the student was transported to a local area hospital, where he/she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
