Sightings of rocket launch in the Borderland Friday evening sets social media ablaze

Did you see something bright in the sky Friday night? You’re not alone.

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on Friday evening around 6:30 p.m., sending social media ablaze with sightings from New Mexico, Arizona, and even Mexico.

The rocket will launch ten satellites for the Iridium next mobile communications fleet.

The mission, which was delayed from October and late November, will use a previously-flown first stage booster.
