UTEP falls to Louisiana Tech 97-88, Miners now 1-3 in conference play
Despite a high scoring effort from UTEP’s Isiah Osborne and Omega Harris, the Miners just couldn’t muster enough offense to get a win on the road against Louisiana Tech.
The Miners fell to the Bulldogs by a final of 97-88.
UTEP was able to keep the game close and was only down 4 points at halftime.
But the Miners struggled defensively and the Bulldogs were in control the majority of the second half.
LA Tech led by as many as 13 points in the second half, but the Miners fought back down the stretch.
UTEP’s Evan Gilyard hit a 3-point shot with 1:21 to go in the game to pull the Miners within 5 points.
But the Bulldogs scored the next five points, including a crucial three-pointer by Derric Jean with 22 seconds left in the game.
This was the first win for LA Tech in conference play.
Bulldogs improve their overall record to 10-6 and 1-3 in conference.
Miners fall to 6-10 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.
It was a big night for UTEP’s Isiah Osborne and Omega Harris.
Osborne led the way in scoring for the Miners with 25 points, Harris finished with 21 points.
UTEP returns home to host Florida Atlantic on Thursday and then they’ll host Florida International University on Saturday.
