Police: possible explosive device secured
UPDATE: El Paso Police Department officials tweeted that the device found by a playground was a shoebox filled with amunition, “military practice grenades” and illumination rounds.
The tweet also said that the EPPD bomb squad secured and collected the device and will dispose of it properly.
“The area is clear,” a third tweet said, attributed to the police spokesman Sgt. Enrique Carrillo.

El Paso police are investigating a possible explosive device found on the far east side of the city.
Investigators were called to the scene shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday to a park on the 14500 block of Holly Springs, which is near Pebble Hills Boulevard and John Hayes Street.
The ABC-7 photographer on the scene learned from police that a shoebox with possible explosive items was found. Officers said the shoebox was near the playground area.
The police K-9 unit is sniffing around for more devices.
