Khalid earns five iHeartRadio Music Awards nominations
El Paso native, and up-and-coming R&B sensation, Khalid, is part of a star-studded nomination lineup for this year’s iHeartRadio Music Awards.
The platinum selling artist is nominated for R&B Song of the Year, R&B Artist of the Year, Best New R&B Artist and Best Cover Song for the March 11th award show. His hit single “Location” is up against Jacquess’ “B.E.D”, Childish Gambino’s “Redbone”, Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like” and “Love Galore” by SZA featuring Travis Scott for the genre’s best song.
Khalid’s successful 2017 earned him a nomination along side some of music’s biggest stars including Bruno Mars, Childish Gambino, Rihanna and The Weekend for R&B Artist of the Year.
The Americas High School graduate will also face 6LACK, Kehlani, Kevin Ross and SZA for the genre’s best new artist.
Khalid’s effort on his single “Lost” gave him a nomination for a socially voted category (Best Cover Song) in which he’ll be against an array of music stars including Shawn Mendes, Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran. A collective effort with Lorde, Post Malone and SZA on the song “Homemade Dynamite” earned Khalid his fifth nomination (Best Remix) for the highly awaited award show.
The list of performers for the iHeartRadio Music Awards also includes Khalid, as he’s expected to share the stage to perform the hit single “1-800-273-8255” with Logic and Alessia Cara.
In 2017, Khalid’s fame grew after releasing his debut album American Teen, which peaked as high as No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Selling R&B/Hip-Hop Albums list.
