White Sands hosts successful flight test
White Sands Missile Range hosted a successful hit-to-kill flight test Sunday with Lockheed Martin.
The Southern New Mexico range tested a controlled flight to demonstrate the interceptor’s increase. The interceptor is less than two-and-a-half feet long and weighs about five pounds at launch.
It was the first successful test with updated electronics. White Sand’s large land area was one of the reasons the test was successful, according to officials.
