3 escapees from Bexar County jail in San Antonio recaptured

Authorities say a woman who helped three murder suspects escape from the Bexar (bayr) County jail later called police to turn them in.

San Antonio police Chief William McManus says the three men escaped Friday morning and were apprehended less than an hour later after stopping at a fast-food restaurant.

An ex-girlfriend of one of the inmates was the getaway driver but later contacted authorities on where to find them. It’s not clear why she decided to turn them in.

Sheriff Javier Salazar says the trio escaped by climbing a wall in a recreation area and cutting out a mesh cover. They jumped onto a roof and then used bed sheets to lower themselves.

The sheriff’s office identified the escapees as Jacob Anthony Brownson, Luis Antonio Arroyo and Eric Trevino.
