NMSU hosts pro day at Aggie Memorial Stadium
Several NMSU seniors hit the field together one final time at NMSU’s pro day Wednesday at Aggie Memorial Stadium.
There were reportedly seven pro scouts in attendance looking at some of the team’s biggest stars including wide receiver Jaleel Scott, running back Larry Rose III, and quarterback Tyler Rogers.
For some, just getting to audition in front of NFL scouts was something they never would have considered was possible a few years ago.
“Dreams do come true. And the fact of me even having this opportunity is a dream come true,” said Rogers, who threw for more than 4,000 yards his senior season.
Coach Doug Martin was in attendance and happy to see his players getting some well-deserved attention.
“Well, I think it’s a testament to the season that we had and to this senior class,” said Martin. “This is a great group of seniors that we had that obviously did something that hadn’t been done in 57 years in getting to a bowl game.”
Many of last year’s seniors were not heavily-recruited by other schools coming out off high school, but they nonetheless helped guide the Aggies to a victory in the Arizona Bowl and a 7-6 overall record in 2017.
“They came here and they developed, and they worked hard,” said Martin. “And they sacrificed, and their families have sacrificed for them to get to this point.”
