Santa Teresa couple plead guilty to bank fraud

A Santa Teresa couple pleaded guilty Friday of committing bank fraud of more than $900,000.

Michael Nedal Annabi, 39, and his wife, 34-year-old Perla Maldonado are accused of participating in a three-year scheme beginning in 2013.

The couple allegedly would obtain loans and lines of credit by giving fake identification and income information to banks nationwide.

Both defendants pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud and one count of wire fraud. A sentencing hearing for the couple is scheduled for July 13, 2018.

Three other individuals pleaded guilty Thursday in connection with the investigation.

Jenzel Nash, 25, of El Paso, pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting making a false statement on a loan/credit application.

Terrance Yelder, 26, of El Paso, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

Miguel Muñoz, 30, of Santa Teresa, pleaded guilty to one count of making a false statement on a loan application.
