UTEP basketball coach Rodney Terry making $725,000 in base pay to start

UTEP has revealed head men’s basketball coach Rodney Terry is set to make $725,000 in base salary in his first year with the program, according to records obtained from UTEP through a public records request.

Terry, who left Fresno State to take the head coaching position at UTEP, would have made $625,000 in the upcoming year had he chosen to stay at Fresno State, according to the Fresno Bee.

The Bee previously reported that Tim Floyd, UTEP’s former head coach, was making a $650,000 annual salary with the Miners.

Floyd retired early in the 2017-18 season due to health reasons and was replaced by interim coach Phil Johnson before UTEP turned to Terry in March of this year.

Terry compiled a 126-108 record in seven seasons as the head coach of Fresno State.

He is slated to make $25,000 more in base salary than UTEP’s new football coach, Dana Dimel, according to records.

Dimel is making $700,000 in base pay in his first year with the team, according to UTEP.

These figures do not include potential bonuses for the coaches that are typically paid for winning rivalry games, winning championships, or hitting certain attendance figures.
