UPDATE: Power returns to East El Paso residents

The El Paso Electric website is no longer reflecting that there is a power outage in East El Paso.

The utility’s website had shown an outage near Yarbrough Drive and Edgemere Boulevard around 7:30 p.m.

According to the utility’s outage map, 164 customers were without power.

El Paso Electric spokesman George De La Torre said the outage happened underground, and that crews had to locate the exact location to begin repair work.

De La Torre said when outages happen underground the repair time can often take “twice as long, if not longer to restore.”

A resident who called ABC-7 said his power returned at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.
