Five El Pasoans among passengers inside Southwest Airlines plane when engine exploded

At least five El Pasoans were inside the Southwest Airlines plane when its engine blew up while flying Tuesday morning, according to El Diario.

Clint Independent School District’s East Montana Middle School Assistant Principal Kristopher Johnson shared a lot of photos and details about what happened on Twitter.

Johnson said that four UTEP faculty members were with him inside the plane and that no one was injured. Johnson identified a few: Jesus Cisneros and Amy Serafini.

The plane was flying from New York to Dallas when the engine exploded, killing one person.

The victim was identified as Jennifer Riordan, from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Authorities said shrapnel from the engine passed through a window and hit Riordan.

She was pronounced dead after the plane made an emergency landing in Philadelphia.
