Brand new Las Cruces V.A. clinic opens at double the size

A brand new Veterans Affairs building opened its doors to the public in Las Cruces on Monday, replacing an older, smaller location.

“I think our veterans deserve the world,” said Crystal Davis-Whited, the clinic manager. “They sacrifice themselves for us and anything that we can do to pay that back, whatever we can do, I want to make that happen.”

The 12,500 square foot clinic is on the 3400 block of Del Rey Boulevard, just north of U.S. 70. The previous space on the 1600 block of Don Roser Drive is 6,500 square feet.

“The expansion comes at a time where more service is needed,” Director of VA Services Michael Amaral told ABC-7 in February 2017. “Our population grows and so do we, so we can meet those needs.”

The new facility comes with a much bigger parking lot. The clinic manager said they will add some staff, but the existing employees will certainly enjoy the additional space.

“I am so excited,” Davis-Whited said. “I am so relieved and we are amazed and just filled with joy.”
