Franklin & Eastlake eliminated from baseball playoffs

Saturday, the season came to an end for the two El Paso high school baseball teams that were still alive in the UIL playoffs.

In 6A, the Franklin Cougars needed to beat the Keller Indians in order to force a deciding game three, but Keller wouldn’t let it come to that.

The Indians defeated the Cougars in game two of the series by a final of 10-1.

It was the same story for the Eastlake Falcons out of 5A.

After losing the first game against the Lubbock Cooper Pirates on Friday, Eastlake needed to beat the Pirates twice on Saturday.

Lubbock Cooper would go on to beat Eastlake in game 2 of the series by a final of 2-1.

It would come down to the 7th and final inning after both teams were tied at one.

Lubbock Cooper would hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 7th to seal the victory and advance in the playoffs.
