Sun Metro passengers worried about lack of shade at new transit center
With temperatures expected to reach triple digits by the end of this week, some Sun Metro passengers are concerned about the lack of shade at the newest Northgate Transfer center.
ABC-7 was out at the new transfer center Tuesday morning. Temperatures were already heating up and some passengers were seen sitting outside on an unshaded block of cement.
A few passengers ABC-7 spoke with were concerned about having to wait outside in triple digit heat.
Sun Metro Director Jay Banasiak said the new transfer center has amenities that can help passengers beat the heat.
“One thing we have is an inside terminal now; people can go inside the terminal. There’s air conditioning and there’s a grill there so passengers can get some food,” Banasiak said.
The center also features screens inside the terminal that offer real time displays of bus routes and their arrival times.
Banasiak assures passengers that they will still look into providing more shade for passengers who prefer to wait outside for their bus.
