FC Grande looks to finish season on a high note

The new men’s soccer team in Las Cruces called FC Grande plays this Saturday at 7 p.m. vs MSC United from Arizona at the High Noon Soccer Complex Field located behind Mayfield High School.

The new minor league team is a fourth division team in U.S. Soccer – the first of its kind in the city.

FC Grande joined the Los Angeles-based United Premier Soccer League. The team is a member of the Southwest Conference.

Their season is winding down and FC Grande is positioning for the conference playoffs.

“It is a very competitive league,” said head coach Alex Reyes. “And, obviously, our goal is to continue to build as a team and as a program.”

A majority of the club is comprised of players from the Las Cruces area, looking to move up the ranks of the soccer world.

“They’re role models,” said Reyes. “You know, they’re role models to the youth that’s here that have those same ambitions as well – the dreams and ambitions about playing at the next level.”
