OSHA: Man caught in between equipment at YISD construction site

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration confirmed a worker at the construction site for Valley View Middle School on North Loop was caught in between two pieces of equipment.

The school is in the Ysleta Independent School District.

In a statement sent to ABC-7, YISD states, “The district is following all policies and procedures. Due to privacy laws, we have no further information.”

The district has not confirmed if construction has stopped, but ABC-7 crews on the scene said there were workers at the site.

OSHA said it is now conducting an investigation.

ABC-7 reached out to the construction company several times, but we have not heard back from it yet. ABC-7 is not identifying the company because it has not been named or officially confirmed by the district.

The new campus will replace Camino Real Middle School, Valley View Middle School, and Mission Valley Elementary School. The Combined campuses will share A kitchen and library, visual and performing arts, and STEM labs.

The estimated budget for this project is $87,135,250 and is expected to be completed fall 2019.
