Chihuahuas rally for 4-3 win over New Orleans Wednesday night
Raffy Lopez hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to help the Chihuahuas beat the New Orleans Baby Cakes by a final of 4-3 Wednesday night at home.
The Chihuahuas have now won five of their last six games and lead their division by 2.5 games over Salt Lake. The Dogs are now ten games over .500 with a 59-49 record.
New Orleans led 3-1 in the fourth when Javy Guerra connected on an RBI double to cut it to a one-run game, setting the table for Lopez to play hero later in the night.
El Paso pitcher Brett Kennedy surrendered three runs in five innings of work but was granted a no-decision to keep his season record at a perfect 10-0.
Shane Peterson went 2-4 on the night for the Dogs with a solo home run and a single to his name.
The two teams will meet again Thursday night with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The Chihuahuas play two more against New Orleans followed by four straight against Round Rock as part of a seven-game homestand.
