UTEP guard Isiah Osborne announces he is leaving the program
The UTEP men’s basketball team is losing one of their key contributors from a season ago.
Guard Isiah Osborne announced via Twitter Thursday that he is transferring from UTEP. It was later reported that Osborne is on his way to Carleton University in Ontario, Canada. Osborne is originally from Windsor, Ontario.
Osborne averaged 9.4 points per game last season for the Miners and was going to be one of only four returning scholarship players on this year’s team along with forward Paul Thomas and guards Evan Gilyard and Kobe Magee.
Osborne scored 20 or more points in four games last season including a career-best 25 versus Louisiana Tech in January.
The former UTEP guard tweeted the following message to his supporters Thursday:
“After a lot of thought, I’ve decided to transfer from the University of Texas at El Paso. I’d like to thank the coaches from the last years for giving me the opportunity to come here and play Division I basketball. I’d also like to thank the best fans! I wish the guys the best of luck in the future.”
