UTEP’s Alvin Jones and NMSU’s Jaleel Scott make NFL preseason debuts
Two former local college stars made their NFL preseason debuts Thursday night with the Baltimore Ravens.
Former UTEP linebacker Alvin Jones and former NMSU wide receiver Jaleel Scott both debuted in the Hall of Fame game against the Chicago Bears.
Alvin Jones, brother of Packers running back Aaron Jones, made his first tackle early in the second quarter on punt coverage.
He went on to record five tackles, all of them solo. Jones tied for the team-high in solo tackles with Kamalei Correa.
Jones was not selected in this year’s NFL draft but quickly signed a deal with the Ravens in late April.
As for Jaleel Scott, he was selected in the fourth round of this year’s draft.
Ravens fans are anxious to see how he works with quarterback Lamar Jackson, whom the Ravens selected at the end of the first round.
The two tried to connect in the third, but Jackson’s pass to Scott was intercepted by Doran Grant. Scott finished the game without a reception.
