Fire destroys part of Upper Valley home Friday morning

The El Paso Fire Department responded to a house fire a about 5 a.m. Friday morning.

Crews arrived to the 700 block of Azalea Place, near Country Club Road and Montoya Drive. The fire was given a condition 3 status, which means heavy smoke and flames were visible.

A battalion chief at the scene told ABC-7 firefighters arrive to huge flames spewing from the garage.

Neighbor Heather Chatterton captured the moment the flames took over the home on her cell phone.

No one was inside the home and no injuries were reported.

Another neighbor told ABC-7 a couple had just bought the home and in the process of renovating it.

Parts of the home was charred and blackened and appeared to be completely destroyed.

The fire department has not said what caused the fire.
