El Paso Marathon launches first kick-off party

With less than six months before the El Paso Marathon, organizers held a party to ramp up excitement over the race.

The first marathon kick-off party before the 2018 El Paso Marathon was held at Independent Burger in Montecillo Thursday evening.

Participants — from first-time marathoners to elite distance runners — had the chance to sign up for early registration, pick up their marathon shirts and win raffle prizes.

ABC-7’s Good Morning El Paso anchor Stephanie Valle, who agreed to run her first marathon, was there to officially sign up and claim her shirt.

There will be four more parties before the marathon on Feb. 17, 2019.
