‘American Idol’ auditions to be held in Albuquerque

“‘American Idol,” the popular singing competition series, is stopping in New Mexico as it crisscrosses the nation to find contestants for its second season.

ABC announced that the Idol Bus will stop in Albuquerque during its nationwide search for the next superstar.

The section of the ABC website dedicated to Idol lists the Albuquerque stop as happening on Friday, Aug. 31. There is no specific location for where the bus will be set up.

The schedule also lists three stops in Texas: in Plano on Sept. 3, Houston on Sept. 4 and Austin on Sept. 6. The website states that other dates and stops may be added.

In addition to auditioning in-person, hopefuls can also submit audition videos online or on social media using the hashtag #TheNextIdol. Participants must be at least 15 years of age.

“American Idol” judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie will return for the second season, as will host Ryan Seacrest. The date for the premiere hasn’t been announced.
