El Paso County warns citizens about possible telephone scams

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office say people have received phone calls from individuals identifying themselves as county employees and claiming they have outstanding warrants.

According to the sheriff’s office, those type of calls are a scam and people should not send money to anyone claiming they work for the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office identified one of the numbers making the calls as 915-832-4400 and says to not answer any calls from that number.

Arrest warrants are not paid for by phone and individuals will never be contacted via a phone call regarding payment of an outsanding warrant, according to the sheriff’s office.

Anyone who’s been a victim of this scam is asked to call 915-832-4408 or 915-832-4400.
