UTEP Womens Basketball take on Alcorn State

The UTEP Miners took on the Braves of Alcorn State.

Alcorn started the party by scoring first but UTEP then went on a 12 to nothing run.

ASU would come back going on an 8 to 2 surge but the Miners were just two tough.

Red shirt junior Ariana Gill scored 15 points.

Gill was slightly under noticed coming into the season but is going to be recognized as a talent on the court.

Zuzanna Puc added 18 points to lead the Miners.

Jordan Jenkins and Katarina Zec both scored in double digits.

UTEP won the game 77 to 51.

“We definitely got better today,” UTEP head coach Kevin Baker said. “Our team improved. We were not perfect, it’s your typical first game of the year. Sometimes in your first game of the year you’re going to have 27 turnovers. I’m not proud of that, I’m not excited about that. But there’s way more positives out there that we can build on. We’re looking forward to CSU Bakersfield.”
