INTERVIEW: Border AIDS Partnership to hold 1st AIDS Walk Fundraiser

El Paso’s Border AIDS Partnership (BAP) will hold their first AIDS Walk fundraising event on World AIDS Day which lands on Saturday December 1st.

“We are very excited about our very first ever AIDS Walk sponsored by Insitu*Architecture and run by us, Border AIDS Partnership. The walk hasn’t occurred for a number of years in El Paso and we hope that we can bring it back and make it an annual event,” said Floyd Johnson, president of BAP.

The organization is hoping to bring the community together on this day to bring awareness to AIDS and to remember loved ones who have died due to AIDS.

“By walking with us, you are also helping our organization provide critical resources for people from El Paso, Cd. Juárez and Las Cruces who are battling HIV/AIDS,” said Johnson.

The event is family and pet friendly so organizer are encouraging participants to bring their children and pets.

Registration for the walk starts at 8 a.m. with the actual walk starting at 9 a.m. The walk is a 5k route around Memorial Park.

Registration fee is $25 and includes a shirt which commemorates the fundraising event designed by Diego “Robot Boy” Martinez.

Registration before the walk can be done at www.eventbrite.com or at the day of the event.
