Holiday shipping season at its peak
The holiday shipping is at its peak and many are scrambling to get gifts delivered before Christmas.
The United States Postal Service said it expects to process and deliver nearly three billion pieces of first-class mail.
The UPS Store in west El Paso is gearing up for the holiday rush to help customers get their packages delivered on time.
“We’re seeing a lot of people come in,” said Brenda Carter, manager of The UPS Store.
UPS said customers have until Tuesday (today) to ship under its ‘Three-Day Select. That is the most affordable delivery option at this point.
“I would suggest the earlier the better. That way you skip all the lines and the later you wait the more expensive it’s going to be,” Carter said.
The deadline for one of FEDEX’s less expensive options is December 19.
The U.S. Postal Service said packages mailed through them need to be sent out by Thursday in order to make it for Christmas Eve.
Carter said one of the most shipped items during this holiday season is food, specifically tamales and cookies.
She said one customer from Dallas called to ask if they would ship Chico’s Tacos and Carter agreed.
“I went to go pick it up, I went to go buy dry ice, I put it in a cooler. I did everything for him so he sent me a check,” Carter said.
“He was really happy about that.”
The UPS Store is located at 3800 N Mesa St Ste A-2.
