NMSU beats Utah Valley to claim 10th consecutive win
The New Mexico State men’s basketball team continued to roll Thursday night, beating Utah Valley by a final of 84-77 to extend their win streak to 10 games.
The Aggies have not lost a game since falling in their WAC opener on Jan. 3 at Cal Baptist.
Eli Chuha paced New Mexico State with 21 points and 10 rebounds while JoJo Zamora added 17 points of his own in the win.
NMSU took a 39-37 lead into the break and began the second half on a 7-0 run to open up a bit of cushion.
The Aggies would then extend the lead to double-digits multiple times in the second half, but weren’t really able to put away a solid Utah Valley team.
Eventually, however, the Aggies were able to hang on for a seven-point win to improve to 21-4 on the year and 11-1 in the WAC.
Utah Valley isn ow 16-8 overall with a 5-4 record in conference action.
The Aggies will look to run their win streak to 11 games Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. when they host Seattle. NMSU already defeated Seattle on the road by 27 points earlier this season.
The Aggies now lead the WAC by a full three games with five conference games left after Grand Canyon fell at UMKC Thursday evening. Grand Canyon, CSU Bakersfield, and UTRGV are all tied for second place with a 7-4 conference record.
