UTEP still winless on the road after loss at Louisiana Tech

The UTEP men’s basketball team is still winless on the road after falling 71-57 at Louisiana Tech Thursday night.

Efe Odigie led the Miners with 16 points and added 10 rebounds, but the Miners were unable to contain DaQuan Bracey ,who exploded for 28 points on 9-12 shooting from the floor for the Bulldogs.

The Miners trailed by just two points with about 14 minutes to go in the game after a Nigel Hawkins three-pointer.

But Louisiana Tech would outscore UTEP by 12 points over the course of those final 14 minutes to grab the win, improving to 16-10 overall and 6-7 in C-USA action.

UTEP is now 0-10 on the road this season and 8-16 overall. The Miners fell to 3-10 in Conference USA play, and their chances of making the conference tournament are in jeopardy.

UTEP entered the night in 13th place out of 14 teams, two games out of a spot in the tournament (the top 12 qualify). With five games now remaining, the team’s hopes are fading quickly.

The Miners must now regroup before their next game Saturday at Southern Miss.
