Man shot inside barbershop in critical condition; police looking for alleged shooter

Police are investigating a shooting inside a barbershop Monday evening that critically injured a 40-year-old man.

Investigators said the victim suffered a gunshot wound to his chest and is in critical condition at Mountainview Regional Medical Center.

Police officers were dispatched to the report of a gunshot victim at Mountainview at about 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2019.

The victim was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, police said. Officers learned the victim was shot at a barbershop on the 1200 block of Foster Road.

Investigators believe the victim argued with a man believed to be in his early 20s. At some point, the suspect took out a handgun and fired at least one round that struck the victim, police said.

The suspect fled the barbershop and has not been seen since.

Investigators believe the suspect is Hispanic, approximately 5-feet-8-inches tall with a thin build. The man is also bald with multiple tattoos on both arms and his upper chest area.

Anyone with information that can help identify the suspect is asked to call police immediately at (575) 526-0795.
