What’s open and what’s closed on the 4th of July in El Paso and Las Cruces
So it’s the Fourth of July but, we still have things to do, errands to run, and so on. And if everything is closed, where does that leave us?
We’re here to answer the most important Fourth of July questions: What’s open, and what’s closed in El Paso and Las Cruces?
OPEN
Stores and restaurant chains — Many are likely to be open on July 4, but it’s always good to call ahead.
Target — Open regular hours.
Walmart — Open regular hours.
Movie theaters — We can’t think of a better way to ring in America’s birthday, and they are open.
Zoos — So you might not think of the zoo as a holiday destination, but the El Paso Zoo will be open.
Animal shelter — The Animal Services Shelter in El Paso is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Pools — El Paso city spray parks, pools and aquatic centers will operate as normal.
Trash collection — It will remain on regular schedule in El Paso, so if Thursday is your trash pickup day, remember to put your bins out. The Greater El Paso Landfill is also open.
Public transit — Sun Metro’s fixed routes will operate on a holiday schedule and the El Paso Streetcar will operate from 11 a.m. to midnight.
CLOSED
Government offices — Anything government-owned, like the U.S. post office, Texas DMV and New Mexico MVD, public libraries, state and federal offices, courthouses and city halls in El Paso and Las Cruces, etc., is going to be closed.
Banks — Your bank is closed, but if you need cash the ATM is always an option.
Museums — The Museum of Art, the Museum of Archeology, and the Museum of History and Digital Wall in El Paso are all closed.
Parks & Recreation — All senior centers and daycare operations along with all recreation and sports centers in El Paso are closed.
Universities — The University of Texas El Paso, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, El Paso Community College and New Mexico State University are all closed.
