An El Paso city representative was arrested and charged with assaulting his wife early Friday.

Sam Morgan represents District 4, which covers northeast El Paso.

Jail records show Morgan was booked Friday morning into the downtown jail on one count of assault causing bodily injury/family violence charge.

“Morgan was arrested after officers responded to his residence on a family violence call. The officers arrived and through the investigation found that Morgan had assaulted his wife,” EPPD Sgt. Enrique Carrillo said.

Bond was set at $3,000. Records show the bond was posted later Friday morning, and Morgan was released from the El Paso County Detention Facility.
