Florida State Seminoles arrive in El Paso for the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl
Thursday afternoon, the Florida State University Seminoles arrived at the El Paso international Airport for the Tony the Tiger Sun bowl.
The Seminoles will face off against Arizona State University December 31st at noon. The last time the Seminoles played in the sun bowl was in 1966.
Florida State leads the all-time series with Arizona State 3-1 and has won three straight against the Sun Devils. The teams first met in the 1971 Fiesta Bowl before squaring off in Tampa in 1979 and playing in Tempe in 1983 and 1984. The Seminoles are 9-2 all-time against current members of the Pac-12.
The 2019 game will mark the 86th anniversary of the Sun Bowl, according to Sun Bowl executive director Bernie Olivas, fans spend anywhere from $14 to $17 million dollars in the Borderland for the game.
