Blackhawks GM resigns, team fined after sexual assault probe

CHICAGO (AP) — Florida Panthers coach Joel Quenneville says he’ll meet with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman on Thursday to discuss his involvement in the Chicago Blackhawks’ sexual abuse scandal. Quenneville is among those named in a report detailing how the Blackhawks mishandled allegations that an assistant coach sexually assaulted a player during the team’s Stanley Cup run in 2010, when Quenneville was head coach. An investigation concluded he attended a May 2010 meeting with other top Blackhawks employees where the allegations were discussed. He maintains he learned of the allegations through media reports this summer. He says he’s already taken part in meetings with the Panthers since the report was released and looks forward “to continuing to contribute to the process” by meeting with Bettman.
