El Paso Mayor issues second veto after council vote to extend city manager’s contract

KVIA

EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser has issued a second video against council's vote to extend the city manager's contract.

On Monday, the council did not take action on the Mayor's first veto to amend the contract, and instead extended the city manager's current contract.

The Mayor again cited the city manager's current contract was set to expire in 2024, calling the extension premature.

The council approved a 5-year extension on Tommy Gonzalez's contract which would take him to 2029.

The revised contract extension does not include a salary cap.
