Local Pitmaster joins group to cook 200 briskets and raise over $250,000 for Uvalde victim’s families

EL PASO, Texas- Joe Martinez a pitmaster and well known YouTuber wanted to help out the families of those affected by the mass shooting that took place in Uvlade, Texas on May 24th.

He and a group of his fellow pitmasters met in Carizzo Springs which is around a mile south of Uvalde.

The group who brought their massive pits cooked 200 briskets.

The meat was then cut up and added to brisket sandwich plates that were sold for $10 a piece.

The local fire station opened its bay doors so that people could drive through to pay and pick up their plates.

Martinez said around $250,000 was raised to help the victim's families.

"This was such an amazing experience, I don't know what to say. A lot of people donated extra obviously but that was a ton of brisket and we raised a ton of money."
