NMSU student working at El Paso’s Kelly Center for Hunger Relief spearheads food drive
EL PASO, Texas - Tracy Pickham is a student at NMSU majoring in Social Work. As part of her practicum, she's working at the Kelly Center for Hunger Relief in El Paso. Tracy has put together a food drive to help the Kelly Center's clients overcome their food insecurity.
The Fresh Start Food Drive is designed to address the root cause of hunger by developing long-term skills and capabilities. It began on October 10 and continues through November 10. The goal of the drive according to Pickham, is 1000 items.
Borderland residents can support the food drive by donating items at any of the three Jason's Deli locations in El Paso - 7410 Remcon Circle on the westside, 8889 Gateway Blvd West #1000 in the Fountains at Farah, and 1355-D George Dieter Drive #626 in Far East.
For your donation, Jason's Deli will give you a coupon good for 10% off your next purchase. You can also register to win gift cards from Jason's Deli and The Nail Shop, which have been provided by L&F Distributors.
Items that are needed the most by the Kelly Center include canned soup, canned vegetables, canned meat (Spam, Ham), canned Fish (Tuna and Salmon), canned Chicken, peanut butter, dry goods (Pasta, Rice, Beans), shelf-stable or powdered milk, and whole grain cereal.
