UTEP bounce back after Battle of I-10 loss and beat NNMC 87-50
EL PASO, Texas -- After falling 95-70 to the Aggies on Wednesday, head coach Joe Golding was anxious to see how his team would respond but the Miners bounced back dominantly with a 87-50 win over NAIA opponent Northern New Mexico College at the Don Haskins Center Saturday afternoon.
“No disrespect to Northern New Mexico College, but what happened today should have happened," Golding said. “We got our butt kicked Wednesday and I was anxious to see how we’d respond. I really liked how our guys responded."
Four players hit double figures to allow the Miners to remain unbeaten at home this season. Shamar Givance (14), Derek Hamilton (11), Mario McKinney Jr. (10) and Jon Dos Anjos (10)
As a team the Miners made 11 3-pointers, the most in any one game this season.
UTEP have a week off before they hit the road to play DePaul in their final non-conference game on the road.
