Las Cruces Public Schools respond to statewide school threat

LCPS

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) -- LCPS is responding to threats being made against schools across New Mexico. The district says it sent out the following message to parents Tuesday night.

"Late Tuesday night, our district was made aware of information shared on social media claiming random acts of violence would be carried out on Wednesday, May 10. Although the threats do not mention any Las Cruces Public Schools campus specifically, they are reaching local social media users.

Our administration has notified law enforcement, but please know there is no evidence that we know of to substantiate a credible threat. In the interest of safety, we wanted to communicate what we knew in a timely manner. As always, we encourage our students and staff to report any suspicious activity to campus security or law enforcement immediately."
