Flowers placed at graves at Fort Bliss National Cemetery this Memorial Day

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Mission Continues placed roses on graves at Fort Bliss National Cemetery this Memorial Day.

The Mission Continues is an organization that aims to honor veterans and service members who lost their lives.

Officials said it is critical we remember the true meaning of this day and honor those who are no longer with us.

Dozens of volunteers helped place the flowers on the graves Monday morning.

Gabriel Jimenez, a volunteer with The Mission Continues, said it was an honor to be part of this tradition. "It was an immediate impact. You feel it," he told ABC-7 at the cemetery.

Jimenez encourages others to take part in this mission each year.

"Actually this is quite humbling and I would come back here every day if they needed me, but I am more than happy to be here. This is something I have always wanted to do here," he said.
