LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) -- Officials say 37-year-old Francisco Hernandez was airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso after a car slammed into him along East Idaho Avenue near Alamo Street in Las Cruces.

Investigators say Hernandez was bicycling westbound on Idaho when a SUV traveling the same direction hit him from behind. The crash happened Saturday and Hernandez died Monday.

Four people were riding in the car that struck Hernandez, including two small children. None of them were injured. The crash remains under investigation. Police have not yet said if they are looking to file charges in connection to Hernandez's death.
