Driver identified in deadly crash, according to police

UPDATE: EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Police have identified the driver in the deadly crash in South Central El Paso.

21-year-old Ruby Elena Aranda has been identified as the driver of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado that drove off the Piedras overpass, Tuesday night.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A woman has been identified as the driver in the deadly crash in South Central El Paso, according to investigators.

The call came in at 11:26 p.m. Tuesday night. It was first reported that the crash happened at the 300 block of N. Piedras St. it has been corrected by police as 200 block N. Piedras St.

According to investigators, the woman was driving her 2003 Chevrolet Silverado at a high speed on the Piedras overpass. She was then unable to manage the curve while driving.

Causing her to go over the overpass on land on a dirt lot at the intersection of Durazno Ave. and Piedras St.

The driver died as a cause of her injuries.

Investigators have determined that speed was a factor in the crash. This makes the 48th traffic death compared to 44th at this time last year.

The name and age of the person has not yet been released. Police are continuing their investigation.
