Shoppers using A.I. for help with Christmas gift ideas

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA)-- Google labs, CHAT GPT, and other shopping specific apps are all providing buying advice.

"What we're doing is kind of shifting the workload instead of us manually browsing the Internet, we're saying, let's offload some of that exploration to the AI and have it come back with that list of potential ideas for us" said Lilian Rincon, senior director of product, Google shopping.

The Google app gives several interesting options, depending on what you search for. A few gift category ideas include: technology gadgets, home improvements and clothing and accessories. The results are not so different from what you would find in a traditional search, but the human-language form makes it feel a little bit more like a friend is suggesting ideas to you.

David Schweidel a Marketing professor at Emory University says "This is something that we're gonna see continue to evolve. But the notion of customer service is something that you can expect to change within the next couple of years.

We're already accustomed in many respects to having chat bots for customer service. Well, those chat bots are going to get a lot more sophisticated." Experts say artificial intelligence being Santa's little helper is only the beginning of  A.I. in retail.
